SAVE YOUR SOUL, MEND YOUR RELATIONSHIPS: UNDERSTANDING THE PEOPLE WHO MATTER IN TIMES OF CONFLICT
Phyllis Braxton approaches potentially triggering topics with a sense of humor and deep reverence for human complexity. Our recent past and present world events have taught us that conflict will find its way to everyone’s doorstep. Your readiness to effectively and empathetically reconcile discord demands confidence and competence in the personal and professional realms, especially with the people you love and care about. Whether your conflict is recent or historical, personal or professional, the time is always right to prioritize your mental wellness over the stress conflict brings. In this embodied educational experience, Phyllis uses her trauma-informed lens to help you understand how our interpretation of conflict can exacerbate an already challenging situation. Learn how culture influences your preferred communication style and how to manage interpersonal differences more effectively. By understanding these concepts, you will see a pathway to mending relationships where conflict has created a divide.

TURN ON YOUR LIGHT: MOVE THROUGH CHANGE AND LOSS TO LIVE YOUR BEST LIFE NOW!
In this session, Phyllis shares how she has learned to practice radical self-acceptance from her 50 trial-and-triumph-filled years of life. Her most vulnerable losses have led to these critical factors that she attributes to saving her family, career, sanity, and spirit. Rebounding from her lowest points ultimately taught her to live a full life, moment by moment, and accept more quickly that losses are our divine life lessons. This session will inspire you to think deeply about your losses and lessons. Leave with a roadmap to activate the light inside of you.

    ROBES & WINE DOWN
Join us with Phyllis Braxton for an intimate late-night happy hour and fireside conversation on topics like empowerment, leadership, and the importance of community. Make connections with fellow AC Members over wine, champagne, and light desserts in this exclusive appreciation offering.

    YOU GET TO HAVE THIS
Join us for an inspirational conversation and interactive workshop where you will uncover your true potential with Jen Pastiloff, yoga instructor and bestselling author of On Being Human. Jen shares her journey from waitressing and feeling hopeless to hosting international yoga retreats and healing her own heart by caring for others. She has learned to fiercely listen despite being nearly deaf, body shame, and rebuild a family after the debilitating loss of her father. Her transformative story of a life filled and fueled by passion will inspire anyone who has struggled to find their way in the world.

    ROCKSTAR YOGA
A yoga-ish experience with bestselling author Jen Pastiloff where you’ll laugh, sing, sweat, and feel free. Root yourself in yoga poses and rock out to your favorite tunes as Jen stretches your sense of fun, flexibility, and flair. All levels. Expect to be delighted.

    BUILT FOR KINDNESS
A robust body of research has concluded that healthy relationships are key to our physical health and well-being. In this lecture, participants will engage in an in-depth exploration of the challenges and opportunities we encounter in every interaction as we strive to create closer relationships and kinder communities. Using an interactive format, Tucson’s resident kindness specialist will reflect on her experiences with kindness in the face of devastating grief, will share her work with Ben’s Bells, and will discuss the emerging body of research on the science of kindness. Using humor and storytelling, Jeannette will leave the audience inspired and equipped to incorporate the life-changing practice of kindness into their lives.

    • JENNIFER PASTILOFF, BEST-SELLING AUTHOR

Jennifer Pastiloff is an author, public speaker, coach and creator of the Shame Loss movement and course.

She is the best-selling author of On Being Human. Before the global pandemic, she traveled the world with her workshop of the same name: a unique hybrid of yoga related movement, writing, sharing out loud, letting the snot fly, and the occasional dance party.

    • Jeannette Maré, Founder of Ben's Bells

In 2002, Jeannette Maré’s life changed forever when her son, Ben, died suddenly just before his third birthday. In the months following his death, Jeannette and her friends and family began making ceramic wind chimes – the first Ben’s Bells – in her backyard studio. Being surrounded by supportive people and working with clay toward a common goal was therapeutic for her family and their healing.

During this time, Jeannette learned how a small act of kindness could make such a difference in a person’s life, no matter their background. She wanted to find a way to teach others about the impact of intentional acts of kindness, and so the idea for the Bell came to life. Jeannette and her friends made four hundred Bells and randomly distributed them in the Tucson community on the first anniversary of Ben’s death. Through these Bells, she had found a way to pay forward the kindnesses that had been shown to her.

This started a powerful ripple effect. People who found the Bells shared their own stories of grief and healing and hope. The local newspaper printed the story on the front page. School groups and businesses and individuals started calling to see how they could get involved and soon, thousands of Tucsonans were helping to craft Ben’s Bells.

Since 2003, Ben’s Bells has been operating as a nonprofit, growing kindness education programs and continuing to distribute thousands of Bells every year. Today Bells are found all over the world and our free kindness education programming has reached over 1.6 million students.
